DIY Roller Wallpaper Thing

So for our final 2D project we had to go back to nature and get inspired by nature and also only work with black and white as our colour palate.

We decided to do our very own DIY roller wallpaper thing!

The designs are really inspired by nature ( I mean literally) and we had our ups and down in creating this product.

Telling you the steps this would be easier with pictures as guides so....HERE YOU GO!
_______________________________

Things need in creating this wallpaper roll thing are;

-Fresh Leaves (you can get them for a near by park for more variety of choices)

- Toilet paper roll or unused box (as roller base and stamp base)

- Craft foam (get them form the nearest Popular book Store now!)

- Base paint
- Any form of paint (we used Chinese ink because it has very strong ink pigment)
- Cutting tools
- Brush
- The very trust worthy UHU glue.
-The bottom caps of a tin can drink (for finishing)
- Old roller handle
- Hands and yourself.
________________

Step one - Choose your desire size of roller to work with, and paint the outer layer with some base paint. This will ensure that no water will go into the roller when you use them.

Step 2 - Choose you desired leaves and apply paint onto one side of the leaf and stamp it on to the craft foam. Repeat step two until you have enough leaves pattern for your roller.

Step 3 - Cut the foams into the leaves shape that was printed on the foam. Note that if you scrape the surface of the foam it will create gaps when you apply it on to a surface later.

Step 4 - Glue the desired leave carved foam into your painted roller. Repeat step until you have fully design your roller.

Step 5 - Once you have design you roller patter, give it a go! apply some paint on the craft foam and rolls away!

Step 6 - Now that the roller is done time to create the handles for them, you will have to cut the two of the bottom part of the canned drinks and drill a hole in the middle, only on one of the tins. Then slip it in to the roller in the following sequence - TIN - ROLLER -TIN. Apply glue at the ends of the tin and secure it into place.

SO THERE YOU GO YOUR VERY OWN WALLPAPER ROLLER

SEE YOU!!

Little Paper Plane

We have to design and make a mini comic? so this is what I came out with.

ENJOY

But before enjoying the comic...here is the behind the scene thing.

 - Story board and layout design -

- This was the first sketch I did of the comic, it was shorter and much simpler with very little square blocks. It didn't work for me because I ended the story too soon, so there was no climax what so ever into the story and it was a little bland to me.

- The next two sketch you see are an edited version of the first sketch on the comic's story board. I added more blocks and made the story longer and now it comes with a climax and the story was no longer boring.

- At my half way point through the story....yey!

NOW ON TO THE MAIN EVENT

*note that it is impossible to fly someone a paper air plane through land and sea….this is purely from my imagination….any lost paper air plane will not be tolerated….fly at your own risk*

You read the comic from left to right, then from right to left…your eye movement will slowly form a ‘S’ like shape much like a descending paper air plane.

This story is about a long distant pen pal, passing notes with each other through a simple paper air plane.

In the first page you can see a girl happily sitting down under a tree and getting ready to read a massage that she just received. Notice that the back ground of the girl is all happy and sunny bright. Moving along the page, as the girl open the massage, the scene change from a nice looking landscape to a more horrid looking landscape with a house on fire, later you see a girl wearing a kimino looking down while holding a letter. As tears run down her face the comic continue to the next page (following the tear)

On the second page, you see the continuation of the tear and it later became the tear from the ponytail girl. Because the ponytail girl felt sad for the bunhead girl, she decided to send her some words of encouragement in a form of a paper plane. She then folded the paper plane and flies over to the next page and got stuck in a tree.

On the third and final page, you will see the bunhead girl noticing that there is a paper plane stuck in the tree, she grabs with a long stick with nets attached at the ends. Before she opens there paper plane, notice her facial expression is all sad and moody, but after she opens the paper plane she looks up with a smile. then it later shows that her surrounding land scape is all flourish and beautiful.
